I have been so focused on going some of the gardening that I have always wanted to accomplish that not out of the ordinary happened since my last post. I did create a couple of new jewelry pieces though. They are simple creations but soothing to accomplish. The moonstone pendant is fairly straight forward.

The agate with the tree of life silverwork was easy to create too but pleasing in the creation.

Seems I got the feeders for the hummingbirds out in time. I had thought I was a little early but they seem to be hungry.

I did run across a news article that I found sad and a travesty of justice and social order in our so-called modern society. The article https://www.cnn.com/2023/05/13/us/idaho-abortion-doctors-drain/index.html shows an Orwellian direction that our society seems to be heading toward and a bit dystopian in nature. I am not a feminist but believe I have a neutral opinion on the subject, but in the above article I had to ask myself why laws are passed without consideration of sound scientific or biological data to support them. Around the world we as Americans frown on the suppression of rights of one group or another but in our own country we step out and show the same regard to one of our own groups. It doesn’t matter whether it is race, gender, sexual preference, or creed our constitution was drafted to minimize the gaps created by, what I like to call, small minds.

I have to wonder how it is that a group of predominantly men with legislative power believe they know more of what is right pertaining to the biology of females than the practitioners do themselves. In my opinion only those of that gender are really qualified to cast votes for restrictions on the opposite gender the other gender should abstain from the vote. To argue the issue on the floor is one thing but to actually cast a vote is another. It makes one wonder what would be the case if the roles were reversed and lawmakers decided that the population growth is getting out of hand in this state then passed laws that required the male population to submit to a vasectomy to control that growth. It is pretty certain because the bulk of lawmakers are male this would not happen but there is an argument here that could go on and on.

I have not yet found that any of those passing these laws have a degree in medicine but they vote like they do know more than the doctors and the patients not to mention the erosion of doctor patient confidentiality. It also appears that most are voting based on their religious backgrounds, according to the articles I have read. There are cultures on the world scene that suppress the rights of females as established by their religion, a religion dialoged by the dominant gender of that culture. Do we as a society have the right say that those cultures are wrong and should be humanitarian and give the female population the same rights as the male population, but we don’t practice those same principles in our own society?

Somehow none of this seems fair to me and as a modern society we are showing our darker side when we disregard the liberty of a specific group based on race, creed, gender or sexual preference. Let’s hope that as we move forward, we can move to make more just laws with human rights in mind. When we subjugate one segment of our society for their makeup or beliefs, I feel we do ourselves a disservice as the guardians of peace and prosperity in the world.

With the hope you all have a great life I am signing off for now.
