Working around the house

Today I started by replacing the rollers on the garage door. They have been calling for replacement for quite some time. It was always a noise endeavor to open or close the door. When you have hearing aids it is enough to drive one insane. Now the only thing you hear is the garage door motor which is not very loud.

I wanted to start faceting the amethyst for the pendant I had in mind but got to thinking that working at my faceting machine could be more comfortable if I had a decent stool. It just so happened there was a computer desk chair that the kids destroyed by breaking the back off and tearing apart the seat. Well I had some burgundy velvet material and some foam cushion so I set about replacing the cushion of the chair and made a handy stool for my faceting station. Of course as luck would have it one of the cats that spends time with me adopted the chair within minutes of the completion of that project. As you can see she is quite content.

I did manage a good start on the pavilion for the amethyst I am faceting. There is still more work to be done on it before I start on the crown. I expect it will be a day or two to get to that point. Once it is finished I will post a picture of it.

I do quite a bit of reading and today was no exception. I am currently reading a number of series sets from Ava Richardson. I finished one series of three books today that I started a couple of days ago and starting into the next series. You could say that next to the hobbies I do my favorite is reading a good book.

There are a few favorites where books are concerned and one of the lates that I thoroughly enjoyed was The Dragon Heart Legacy by Nora Roberts. I enjoy most of her trilogies when they deal with the mystical. The Dragon Heart Legacy trilogy was so far my favorite of them all. Another I set I enjoyed was the The Cousins O'Dwyer trilogy. There are others by her and other authors so I could go on for a long time.
